Dari sini kemudian, muncul ragam corak tafsir Al-Quran. Kata corak berasal dari bahasa Arab alwan, bentuk jamak dari launun yang berarti warna. Jadi corak tafsir secara umum diartikan sebagai kekhususan suatu tafsir yang merupakan dampak dari kecenderungan seorang mufassir dalam menjelaskan maksud ayat-ayat Alquran.
